CROSS USA LECTURE OF THE GEO-INSTITUTE OF ASCE: Observation Method for Bridge Scour and Meander Migration
CESTiCC, Alaska Society of Professional Engineers (ASPE), and American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Fairbanks Chapter were honored to welcome Dr. Jean-Louis Briaud, to Fairbanks to give the Cross-USA Lecture on Observation Method for Bridge Scour and Meander Migration on March 3rd. Dr. Briaud is the Distinguished Professor at Texas A&M University, and currently the resident of FedIGS, the Federation of International Geoengineering Societies.
He joined local engineers from ASCE, ASPE, as well as CESTiCC students and faculty at the JP Jones Community Center near downtown Fairbanks. Nearly 50 engineers attended the presentation in person and 25 joined online via the gotowebinar.
The presentation was very well-received and local engineers took the opportunity to ask questions and share Alaskan perspectives with the Texas A&M professor. We are grateful for the support of the engineering community and are happy that Dr. Briaud was able to take the time and make the trip to Alaska.
