On April 23, 2014, CESTiCC Director Dr. Jenny Liu and her students, Paul Eckman and Beaux Kemp, hosted an engineering session during the Kids2College Program for 26 5th graders from Denali Elementary School. Dr. Liu gave a presentation to show students the unique engineering challenges of transportation infrastructure in cold regions such as Alaska, and research and practice in advancing innovative sustainable materials and design and reducing environmental impacts during construction, operations and preservation for transportation infrastructure use in cold regions. 5th graders then had an opportunity to see equipment and testing specimens to simulate real world situations.
