Engineering Week Open House
The College of Engineering and Mines at UAF hosts an engineering week open house every year to invite the Fairbanks community to discover, engage and enjoy all things engineering. The event takes place in conjunction with National Engineer’s Week, which strives to increase public awareness and appreciation of engineers and their contributions to all aspects of society. This year’s open house was held on Saturday, February 27th, 2016, at UAF’s Duckering Building, and was attended by around 550 community members. CESTiCC’s Hot Wheels RC Derby attracted a lot of kids and made transportation come alive! Participants learned fundamental geometry and road design by building their tracks, racing their cars down the tracks and measuring their car’s performance in a variety of circumstances.
CESTiCC wishes to express our appreciation to UAF’s College of Engineering and Mines, Flint Hills for sponsoring the event and to our CESTiCC volunteers, Dr. Lin Li, Ph.D student Chuang Lin, and undergraduate students Kannon Lee and Gabriel Fulton. Everyone had a great time, and we’re hoping it won’t be too long before we see these transportation engineers on campus!
